The Borough of Vandling, a very close-knit and family friendly community is located on Route 171 one mile south of Forest City between Forest City and Carbondale. The community consists of modest and upscale housing with ample areas for development. Many business owners and professional people have chosen to locate here because it is a small, quiet area with easy access to all types of recreational, cultural and educational activities. Like most of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the borough is populated with people who have an outstanding work ethic that has instilled a sense of pride in the entire community. Schools are good and taxes are modest compared to neighboring communities. Commute distance to Scranton Area business work places is reasonable via the Casey Highway. Churches exist in neighboring communities for peoples of all faiths.
For the ski enthusiasts, Elk Mountain Ski Resort is approximately 15 miles away. For fisherman, numerous lakes with state access are available. A recently renovated YMCA is available six miles south in Carbondale with activities for children and adults alike. There are many soccer and baseball leagues available for youth of all ages and gender. A great place to raise a family, Vandling celebrated their centennial in 1999 as a community “Proud Of Our Past and Looking To Our Future”.
